Peking University YOUAN Hospital (hereafter referred to as YOUAN Hospital), founded in 1956, is a top-tier, Class A tertiary hospital specializing in liver diseases, liver transplantation, and infectious disease diagnosis and treatment. The hospital integrates medical care, teaching, and research, combining both traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine. It is also one of the accredited hospitals with internet hospital certification and serves as the Ninth Clinical Medical School of Capital Medical University.
YOUAN Hospital has established leading centers for liver and gallbladder diseases, oncology intervention, and infectious disease treatment. It has 12 Master's degree programs and 6 Ph.D. programs. The Beijing Liver Disease Institute, located within the hospital, is an important research hub for basic medical science. Additionally, the hospital is the Clinical Diagnosis and Research Center for Hepatocellular Carcinoma (liver cancer) of Capital Medical University. The hospital houses 7 national and Beijing-level key laboratories, and in 2012, it established a million-level biobank that significantly contributes to scientific advancements.
YOUAN Hospital is one of the first hospitals in Beijing to perform liver transplants, having completed over 2,000 liver transplant surgeries. In the past three years, the hospital consistently ranks first in Beijing, performing nearly 200 liver transplant surgeries annually. It also performs approximately 9,000 interventional oncology surgeries annually and treats nearly 29,000 liver cancer cases, maintaining a leading position in China.
The Infectious Disease Center at YOUAN Hospital has led and undertaken major national scientific projects in the field of infectious diseases since the "15th Five-Year Plan." During the COVID-19 pandemic, it was involved in key national R&D projects and received the second prize in the Beijing Science and Technology Award. Research results have been published in top international medical journals such as Cell and New England Journal of Medicine.
The hospital also operates specialized centers like the "YOUAN Love Home" and "Liver Disease Health and Wellness Home," offering a comprehensive service system that integrates prevention, treatment, maintenance, and rehabilitation. The YOUAN Liver Disease and Infectious Disease Medical Alliance has nearly 300 partner medical institutions across China.
