Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital: A Leading Medical Institution in China

Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital (BTCH), affiliated with Tsinghua University, is a non-profit comprehensive public hospital located in Tiantongyuan, Changping District, Beijing. The hospital officially opened in November 2014 with 1,000 beds. It was generously supported by donations from the Formosa Plastics Group and Taiwan Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. BTCH provides medical services under the management of both the Beijing Municipal Administration of Hospitals and Tsinghua University.

BTCH follows a patient-centered approach to healthcare, aiming to provide high-quality clinical care, education, and research. It has built a modern healthcare delivery system based on precision medicine, lean management, and empathetic service. The hospital has set a ten-year development plan, with the goal of achieving excellence in clinical care, education, and research.

The hospital offers a wide range of services across 50 clinical and technical departments, including liver transplantation, oncology intervention, cardiology, neuro and digestive disease centers. With advanced technologies, the hospital has pioneered multiple treatments and successfully treated complex and critically ill patients. BTCH's liver transplant program is one of the largest in Beijing, with over 200 liver transplants performed annually.

With strong ties to Tsinghua University, BTCH has also become a center for medical education, offering various programs for clinical medicine (MD and PhD), and serves as a training base for resident doctors, specialists, and international fellowships. It is home to several cutting-edge research initiatives, including the Institute of Organ Transplantation and Bionic Medicine and the Beijing Engineering Research Center for Smart Health Technologies.

BTCH is also a pioneer in telemedicine, having launched its own telemedicine system in 2017 to facilitate online academic exchanges and remote consultations. The hospital is deeply involved in public health initiatives and medical poverty alleviation, with a focus on rural medical assistance and free medical consultations.
